Stephen bought his first bike when he was 15, after working all summer. Since then, he has owned various bikes of many different styles. He now drives a 1975 Harley FLH, since 1994. Alterations have been made in that time, but the basic bike is original.
He originally trained to become a motor mechanic, which he worked at until 2011. Around this time, his wife, an artist, ( www.marymurphy.weebly.com ) convinced him, through sheer perseverance, to pick up a paintbrush and paint. Early works were in acrylics, but Stephen quickly moved on to oils, which he has used ever since.
Most of Stephen's painting's centre around bikes and associated images, although not exclusively so.
He lives in the south of Ireland with his wife, three children and various pets. They both drive bikes and paint as often as possible.
